Planning Your Car Wash Pump Out System<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The following question is one we hear often:
“What kind of pump do you recommend for pumping out primary and secondary car wash traps with dual 500 gallon traps? How long does it take to pump out a 500 gallon pit?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most popular pumps for waste pit pumping is the Mud Sucker 2” Engine Diaphragm Pump<\/a>. With a 20 GPM transfer capability this pump is great for car wash pit waste removal. The waste pit generally becomes full with grit, silt, oil residue from cars and other oils. So your car wash pumps must have the capability to transfer this variety of fluids. We also suggest placing the pump 10-15 ft. from the pit with hosing to get the job done efficiently. Within 10 minutes, for most applications, the pit should be empty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you can’t discharge into the municipal sewer system, we suggest a 500 gallon or above honey wagon<\/a>. The honey wagon can collect car wash waste that you can later discharge at an approved dump station If you need a higher capacity pump we suggest going with the Mud Sucker 3” Electric Diaphragm Pump <\/a>with an 80 GPM capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wastecorp has worked with several dealerships, such as, Ford, BMW, and GM, to standardize how their wash bay drainage design. It is typically a variation between a Mud Sucker 2” Engine Diaphragm Pumps (shown in the photo to the right) and a Mud Sucker 3FA Series. All have worked well, especially in States and Canadian Provinces with colder climates where you see lots of road grit in the winter washing down in the sump pits. We have worked with over 200 car dealerships, aircraft wash bays and maintenance terminals to install Mud Sucker pumps in their sump pits to pump out grit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These pumps also work well within the airline industry for cleaning and deicing air crafts. As well as cleaning off subway and bus grit for the transportation industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
