How to Pump Wet Wipes and Cooking Oil

In North America, municipal wastewater treatment operators routinely voice their concerns to Wastecorp about the use of wet pipes by the general public and then flushing them down the toilet. “Do you guys make a pump that can better handle the wet wipes” is a question Wastecorp frequently receives at our sludge pump call centers. Jim K. from Winston Salem North Carolina tells it like it is:

Vacuum Pumps: What You Should Know

When looking for a vacuum pump there are several questions that you should be considering.
First you need to establish weather or not you need a diaphragm pump or an actual vacuum pump. This question can be addressed by knowing the following:
What are you pumping?

Waste trap grease, caked in sediment, hardened mud and thicker fluids are all good applications for a vacuum pump. Why? These types of fluids require high suction power to either transfer the fluid in the case of waste trap grease or loosen the caked in mud and sediment. We see this a lot when a customer has a waste fluid pit and the water sits on top in the pit or tank and the mud, silt sediment or grease sits on the bottom. To get that material through the pump you need a high rate of vacuum power. Application Details

Wastecorp is one such supplier of vacuum pumps and there are few vacuum pump applications that we haven’t addressed already. Many of our customers have septic pump out needs for railways, public transit, porta pottys and wash bay pits that need to be pumped out for example. These range from tru read more

Aod Pumps: Repair it or Replace it?

Aod pumps. They have been around for years for pumping everything from wastewater to oil slurry to sludge. Almost every pump distributor out there has either pushed Wilden, Sand Piper or some other air operated diaphragm pump option at least historically any way. As these pumps age, end users and operators have the issue to grapple with: do I repair my AOD pump or do I replace it? Can I still tolerate my energy bill from Aod pumps or is there a viable alternative? A well known defense contractor pondered these questions and more with a query to Wastecorp’s pump engineering dept.

“We are using Aod pumps side by side at our manufacturing facility to pump jelly type slurry wastewater and waste oil or a combination of that. These AOD pumps are costing us $1000 to $2000 a piece to rebuild. They provide poor performance and the energy costs are ridiculous. This is the 21st century, there has to be a better a read more

How to Find New Diaphragms for an Old Diaphragm Pump

One of the frequent calls we hear from customers is that they either have an older diaphragm pump make or need replacement diaphragms for their newer diaphragm pump. The good news is that replacement diaphragms and other parts for almost any kind of diaphragm pump are available for pumps dating back as far as the 1940’s.
